Program Information

Affiliations

The PA Fellows will dedicate three of the twelve months of their training to surgical first assisting. This time is spent at local area hospitals for which the program operates within a Letter of Affiliation. The current local area hospitals are: St Bernadine’s Medical Center, Redlands Community Hospital, and Riverside Community Hospital.

 

The Orthopaedic Department of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has affiliations with California University of Sciences and Medicine (CUSM), Loma Linda University, Western University of Health Sciences, and St. George’s University, to provide clinical rotations to MD and PA students.

Remuneration & Benefits

 

Salary:

The PA Fellow’s services will be generously remunerated with an annual salary of $62,400 for the entire training.

 

Medical Benefits: Arrowhead Orthopaedics offers each eligible PA fellow a comprehensive HMO medical insurance plan, with options for dental and optical coverage. The Group will pay the premiums for the fellow only. Spouse and dependent coverage may be obtained from Arrowhead Orthopaedics at the expense of the PA Fellow.

 

Liability Insurance:

Professional Liability Insurance coverage is provided by ARMC while training at the hospital. For all rotations outside of the primary teaching site of ARMC the PA Fellow is covered under a professional liability policy purchased by Arrowhead Orthopaedics.

 

Paid Time Off:

The PA Fellow is allotted 10 days of paid time off during the twelve month fellowship. These 10 days include vacation, sick, and interview time. Leave is not to be taken during on-call responsibilities or during the pre-fellowship training period. In the event the Fellow needs more than 10 days, the circumstances regarding the time off request will be considered and if granted an equal number of days/shifts must be remediated and arranged by the program director.

 

CME:

At the completion of the fellowship you have earned up to 50 category I CME credits granted by the AAPA. 

 

Meals:

The PA Fellow is provided with a meal allowance while on duty to purchase food and drinks at the ARMC café.

 

Supplies:

All textbooks for didactic training are provided to the PA Fellow at the start of the program.

Tuition & Fees

 

Tuition:

There is no tuition costs for the PA Fellow.

 

Fees:

The PA Fellow is responsible for the costs to obtain/maintain a California PA License and BLS/ACLS certifications. Renewal of BLS/ACLS can be obtained at ARMC at no charge.

Refund of Fees:

The PA Fellow is reimbursed for the fees associated with obtaining a DEA license and completion of a Controlled Substance Education Course. The PA Fellow must submit an original receipt to the Fellowship Director in order to request for a refund.
